3D Minesweeper

Minesweeper, in true 3D. Cells fill a volumetric grid — mines hide above, below, in front, behind. Sweep through, not just across.

Description

Most "3D Minesweeper" games take the classic flat board and wrap it around a sphere or fold it onto the faces of a cube. 3D Minesweeper doesn't. The board is the volume: a 3 dimensional lattice of cells

The cell shape changes the number of faces — and therefore the number of neighbors — which changes how mines hide and how the puzzle unwinds. The full release ships with 20+ cell shapes on Steam and Meta Quest; the mobile builds carry a curated subset.

One important departure from classic Minesweeper: a cell's number only counts mines in cells that share a face. Edges and corners don't count. (A cube cell has six neighbors, not twenty-six.) This is deliberate — counting all 26 corner-and-edge neighbors makes 3D play overwhelming and too difficulty. Veterans of classic Minesweeper need a board or two to recalibrate.

Features

  • True 3D play — cells fill a volume, not a surface.
  • Face-only adjacency — numbers count mines in face-sharing cells, never corners or edges. A deliberate departure from classic Minesweeper.
  • 20+ cell shapes on Steam & Quest; 5–10 on mobile.
  • Multiple visual themes, including a color-blind palette.
  • Three difficulties on mobile (5³, 7³, 9³); larger and custom sizes on Steam & Quest.
  • Local saves — no cloud account required.
  • Built on Unity DOTS with performance in mind to hit target FPS on any device

Shape Catalog

Each shape has its own neighbor topology, so adjacency-counting plays differently across the catalog. The full set ships on Steam & Meta Quest; mobile carries a curated subset.

Beta

The mobile build is currently in closed beta on iOS (TestFlight) and Android (Google Play). Players, press, and reviewers can request access — or follow development and talk to the community — through the game's Discord: discord.gg/4nkgFJXdA.

Pricing & Availability

The mobile builds (iOS, Android) are free forever. There will never be Ads or in-app purchases. The trade-off is that mobile is capped at the three preset board sizes (5³, 7³, 9³) and ships with a curated subset of the cell shapes. Players who want larger or custom boards or the complete shape catalog can buy the game once on Steam or the Meta Quest store.

Modes

At launch, the game ships with one mode: solve the board, optionally against the clock. A daily-challenge mode (one shared seed per day, global leaderboard) is on the post-launch roadmap.
